About Us
4Sciences Group Ltd is a UK-based consultancy established in 2020 to support the strategic development of Higher Education and research systems. We work with institutions, funders, and policy makers to strengthen research ecosystems, enhance institutional capacity, and foster effective collaboration across the global research landscape.
Founded by Silke Blohm, 4Sciences Group was created as a platform to deliver tailored, sustainable solutions that respond to the distinct needs of organisations in Higher Education. Our work is grounded in sector expertise, participatory methodologies, and a commitment to co-creation and empowerment.
Silke brings over 30 years of experience in research and innovation across academia and industry. Her career spans leadership roles in university governance, research strategy, and institutional development, including:
- Senior HE Advisor to the Pan-African University
- Director of Research & Enterprise at SOAS University of London
- Managing Director of the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology
- Head of Research Services at KAUST in Saudi Arabia
- Head of Research Grants and Contracts at King’s College London
- Roles in start-ups and the pharmaceutical sector
Silke is also an editorial board member of the Journal of Research Management (JoRMA) and a regular reviewer of grant proposals for the European Commission and other organisations.
Her international experience – living and working across three continents and leading projects in countries such as Malaysia, Mauritius, and Germany – brings a unique blend of strategic insight and cultural fluency to the company’s work.
In addition to our commercial activities, 4Sciences actively contributes to sector-wide initiatives that strengthen research ecosystems and develop best practice models across diverse geographies.
